Why Not Theatre – ThisGen

In 2018, the Dept co-designed and facilitated a day-long consultation event to discuss more equitable distribution of resources in Toronto's independent theatre sector.

The independent theatre sector in Toronto has consistently struggled with being under-resourced. There is a vast supply of talent and desire but not enough opportunities and resources to get the work produced in an increasingly unaffordable city. ThisGen 2018 brought together 30 independent theatre actors, writers, administrators and directors from across Canada with the aim of designing pilot projects that promote a more equitable distribution of resources across the sector.

The Dept of Words & Deeds provided co-design for the day-long event, as well as facilitation support and detailed feedback summaries.
